Jack Morris Cheek

Jack Morris Cheek, age 81, of Toccoa, Georgia, passed away on Friday, December 16, 2016. Mr. Cheek was born on September 9, 1935 in Stephens County, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Jackson and Della Ramey Cheek; wife, Bertha Mae Garner Cheek; sisters, Zudie Mae Dalton, Barbara Ann Bryant; son, Clay Lawrence Cheek, Sr. Mr. Cheek was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church. He was a retired employee of CP Wilbanks Lumber Company with several years of service. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Jacqueline and Terry Goss, of Clarkesville; son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Ann Cheek, of Commerce; son, Benny Cheek, of Clarkesville; sister and brother-in-law, Dorris and Richard Grantom, of Toccoa; brothers and sisters-in-law, Andrew and Jeanett Cheek, of Toccoa; Phillip and Crickett Cheek, of Toccoa; 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; special friend, Shelby Dodgins, of Toccoa; also several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 19, 2016 at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel with Rev. Sanford Kimbrell officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, December 18, 2016 at the funeral home.
