J. C. Cowart

J. C. COWART, age 72, of Clarkesville, GA, died Thursday, November 2, 2006 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Mr. Cowart was born on April 16, 1934 in Hiawassee, Georgia to the late Joseph Claude and Lola Shook Cowart. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Lurlene Roberts Cowart. Mr. Cowart was a cattle farmer and was a retired correctional officer with Lee Arrendale State Prison with 22 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include: his wife: Belvia Cowart, Clarkesville, GA; his daughter and son-in-law: Shelia and Gary McCoy, Alto, GA; Son and Daughter-in-law: Dwight and Brenda Cowart, Mt. Airy, GA; Son: Wayne Cowart, Clarkesville, GA; Son and Daughter-in-law: Mike and Shelia Cowart, Demorest, GA; Step-son: Clyde Ramey, Clarkesville, GA; Sister and brother-in-law: Frances and Quinton Wilson, Clarkesville, GA; Brother and sister-in-law: Grady and Carolyn Cowart, Clarkesville, GA; 7 grandchildren: Chad and Jenny Cowart, Brad and Renee Cowart, Shaun and Jenia Cowart, Brandon Cowart, Lindsay McCoy, Brett Cowart, and Justin Ramey; 1 Great-grandchild: Cole Cowart; 1 Niece: Taecey Cowart; 1 Nephew: Robin Wilson. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2006 from the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest. Burial will follow in the Old Nacoochee Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday and from 10 to 12 p.m. on Saturday.
