Irene Sutton Land

IRENE SUTTON LAND, age 92, of Cornelia, Georgia, passed away on Monday, February 11, 2013, at her residence. Mrs. Land was born on December 20, 1920, in Habersham County, Georgia, to the late Vaughn and Susie Smith Sutton. She was also preceded in death by her husband, W. Quinton Land and her brothers, James, Edgar, Lawerence, and Lester Sutton. She and her husband, Quinton, were the retired owners of Sandy Springs Hardware and Supply with 30 years of service. Mrs. Land was a member of Level Grove Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Tommy Parker, Cornelia, GA; son, Thomas Wesley Land, Atlanta, GA; sister, Louise Bryant, Clarkesville, GA; granddaughter, Kelly Parker; grandson and his wife, Andy and Monica Parker; and great-grandsons, Clay, Carson, and Cole Parker. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 14, 2013, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia, with Rev. Brian James and Rev. Terry Rice officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13, 2013, and from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour on Thursday, at the funeral home.
