Inez Buffington Chandler

Inez Buffington Chandler, age 86, of Baldwin, GA died Saturday, April 21, 2007, at her residence from complications of Parkinson's Disease. Mrs. Chandler was born in Hall Co., GA to the late William Franklin Buffington and Ruth Buffington Buffington on September 12, 1920. Mrs. Chandler, a graduate of Piedmont College, was a retired elementary school educator who taught in Habersham, Banks and Hall Counties from 1960 until her retirement in 1983. Mrs. Chandler was a positive influence on hundreds of students during her teaching career. Whenever her young students asked Mrs. Chandler how old she was, she would reply "Why, I'm 39!"Mrs. Chandler loved visits from her family especially gatherings for holidays and special occasions, and watching the Braves play. Mrs. Chandler was a member of First Baptist Church in Cornelia. Mrs. Chandler was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, William Pinckney Chandler, Sr.; her infant son, William Anthony Chandler; her brother, Lonnie Obourn Buffington; her sisters, Nannie Buffington Hill Pruitt, and Frankie Buffington Dunagan; her sister-in-law, Julia Nelle Chandler Crane; and her son-in-law, Lee Edward Ellenburg. Mrs. Chandler is survived by her son and daughter-in-law William P Chandler, Jr. and Myra Chandler of Cornelia; her daughter, Cheryl Chandler Ellenburg of Gainesville; her daughter and son-in-law, Janis Chandler Stapleton and Jim Stapleton, Jr. of Cornelia; her daughter and son-in-law, Debra Chandler Satterfield and Bill Satterfield of Baldwin. Mrs. Chandler is also survived by her grandchildren Jessica and Tim Lovell of Gainesville; Alexia Chandler of Cornelia; Julie and Tripp Wingate, Joanna Ellenburg, and Jenny Ellenburg, all of Gainesville; Jim Stapleton III, and Derek and Deven Stapleton, all of Cornelia; Keith Stapleton of Baldwin; Tonya Satterfield of Gainesville; Joseph Satterfield of Baldwin; her great-grandchildren; Chandler Lovell, Ellie Wingate, James Stapleton IV, and Libby Stapleton; her sister-in-law, Buell Martin Buffington of Gainesville; and her special friend, Yvonne Thacker of Toccoa. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 24, 2007 from the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia. Burial will follow in the Baldwin Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, April 23, 2007 from 6 until 9 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Michael J. Arrangements are in the care of Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia.
