Hugh Daniel Cantrell

Hugh Daniel Cantrell, age 92, of Mt. Airy, Georgia, died Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at a private care facility. Mr. Cantrell was born on December 31, 1916 in White County, Georgia to the late Samuel and Drucilla Chastain Cantrell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Dwayne Cantrell and a grandson, Chance Cantrell. Mr. Cantrell was a member of the Mt. Airy Baptist Church. He was a retired car dealer and was affiliated with 123 Wholesale Tire Company. Mr. Cantrell was a 52 year member of the Mt. Airy Masonic Lodge #141 F & A M. Survivors include: his wife of 62 years: Nellie Westbrooks Cantrell, Mt. Airy, GA; his daughters and sons-in-law: Judy and Terry Barrett and Garnelle and Tim Holcomb, all of Mt. Airy, GA; his sons and daughters-in-law: Jack and Phyllis Cantrell, Mt. Airy, GA; Don and Teresa Cantrell, Martin, GA; his brother: Herschel Cantrell, Cornelia, GA; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2009 from the Mt. Airy Baptist Church with Rev. Ray Turpin and Dr. B.V. Franklin officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia, from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 p.m. on Friday, August 14, 2009.
