Hubert M. "Bud" Hames

HUBERT M. "BUD" HAMES, age 80, of Clarkesville, GA, died Thursday, January 4, 2007 at his residence. Mr. Hames was born on July 8, 1926 in Habersham County, Georgia to the late James Corbett Hames, Sr. and Grace Woodall Hames. He was a United States Navy World War II veteran. Mr. Hames attended Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and was an ordained deacon serving the Christian Church in this capacity for almost 40 years. Also he served the church as an adult Sunday School teacher and RA leader. He was retired from Clarkesville Mill as a supervisor with 31 years of service. Survivors include: his loving wife of 57 years, Ovaline Welborn Hames, Clarkesville, GA; his son and daughter-in-law: Jeff and Lana Hames; his daughter, Lydia Hames; Grandchildren: Gus Hames, Ben and Erin Hames, Cale and Jordan Westbrook; Great-grandchildren: Sabbi, Taylor, Camden, Grant and Sam Hames; Siblings: Corbett Hames, Jr., Clarkesville, GA; Helen Dixon, Clarkesville, GA; John Davis Hames, Montezuma, GA. ` Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2007 from the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, with Rev. Ben Hames and Rev. Russ Barker officiating with eulogy provided by Cale Westbrook. Burial will follow in the Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to the Mt.
