Hortense Nix Canup

Hortense Nix Canup, age 84, of Clarkesville, GA died Thursday, August 23, 2007 at a private care facility. Mrs. Canup was born on April 7, 1923 in Habersham County, GA to the late John Millett and Savannah Smith Nix. Mrs. Canup was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Floyd Canup. She was a homemaker and was of the united Methodist faith. Mrs. Canup was a member of Woodmen of the World. Survivors include: her daughter and son-in-law: Patricia Canup Free and Woodrow Free, Clarkesville, GA; her sons and daughters-in-law: Jack and Nyoka Canup, Clarkesville, GA; James and Gwen Canup, Alto, GA; her son: Dan Canup, Clarkesville, GA; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren. She is the last of her immediate family Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 25, 2007 from the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel Baldwin, with Rev. Donald Holbrooks officiating. Burial will follow in New Liberty United Methodist Church Cemetery, Clarkesville, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday.
