HERSCHEL WEBSTER, age 89 of Cleveland, GA, died Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at his residence. Mr. Webster was born on January 12, 1918 in Habersham County, Georgia to the late Edgar Alan and Lou Demie Perkins Webster. He was a United States Navy WW II Veteran. Mr. Webster was a member of Cornelia First Baptist Church; there he served as a deacon and was a member of the Southern Baptist Ministry Sunday School Class. He was the owner and operator of H.L. Webster Manufacturing. Mr. Webster invented The Tree Planter and, along with his son, built their own small hydroelectric plant. Mr. Webster is credited with many other inventions. Survivors include: his wife, Allie Ree Foster Webster Cleveland, GA; his daughters, Glenda Maher, Cornelia, GA, Revonda Amthor, Cleveland, GA, and Zelda Cantrell, Navajo, NM; his son, Lamar Webster, Cleveland, GA; his sister, Mathilda Scroggs, Cornelia, GA; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2007 from Cornelia First Baptist Church with Rev. Clyde Garrison, Rev. Steve Doran, and Rev. Gene Poole officiating. Burial will follow in Level Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, GA from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday.
