Herbert Tanksley

HERBERT TANKSLEY, age 80, of Alto, GA, died Thursday, December 4, 2008 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Mr. Tanksley was born on November 9, 1928 in Anderson, South Carolina to the late Russ Lee and Dossie Ivie Tanksley. He was a United States Air Force veteran having served in the Korean Conflict. Mr. Tanksley was retired from J.P. Stephens as Supervisor with 26 years of service and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include: his wife: Clara Shirley Tanksley, Alto, GA; his sister: Evelyn James, Seneca, SC; his sister-in-law: Bertha Shirley, Alto, GA. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2008 from the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia with Rev. Ray Turpin officiating. Interment will follow in the B.C. Grant Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors provided by the Habersham County America Legion #84, The Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720, and the Rabun County DAV Chapter #15.
