Helen Gragg Barrs

Helen Gragg Barrs, age 80, of Clarkesville, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 28, 2012, at the residence. Mrs. Barrs was born in Habersham County, Georgia on October 21, 1932, to the late Marvin T. and Mamie Chambers Gragg. In addition to her parents she was preceded by her husband, Benny Thomas Barrs, infant son and daughter, daughter, Helen Louise Gosnell, sister, Lois Crane, brothers, Homer, Travis, Jessie, Bennie and Danny Gragg and one granddaughter. Mrs. Barrs was of the Baptist faith. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Diann and Leon Jenkins, Clarkesville, GA, Martha and Dennis Gosnell, Homer GA and Donna and James Fry, Clarkesville, GA; daughter, Jeannette Barrs, Alto, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Donnie and Tina Barrs, Clarkesville, GA; sisters, Lillian Baty, Highlands, NC and Ann Gosnell, Clarkesville, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Ruby and Lloyd Davis, Demorest, GA; 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren. Memorial services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Wednesday, October 31, 2012, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia with Rev. Bill Free, Rev. Paris Whitworth, and Rev. J.R. Elrod officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour. Arrangements are in the care of Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia.
