HAZEL BROWN, age 93, of Alto, GA, died Saturday, May 30, 2009 at her residence. Mrs. Brown was born on December 12, 1915 in Habersham County, Georgia to the late Tom and Roxie Ervin Gerrin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Dewey Brown, her grandson, Joey Jones, a great-grandson, Justin Warren, her sisters, Dorothy Wiley and Violet Kelley, as well as her brothers, Homer Gerrin and Grady Gerrin. Mrs. Brown was a Charter Member of the Crossroads Baptist Church; there she had also served as a Sunday School Teacher for a number of years. She was a retired seamstress having retired from Carwood Manufacturing with 20 years of dedicated service. Survivors include: her daughter: Betty Louvema Brown, Alto, GA; her daughters and sons-in-law: Frances and William Jones, Alto, GA; Eunice and Gary Clark, Alto, GA; Edna and Paul Jones, Cornelia, GA; Mildred and Jay Jones, Lawrenceville, GA; Janice and Derrick Simpson, Alto, GA; Joan and David Lynn, Baldwin, GA; Jackie and Keith McConnell, Flowery Branch, GA; her son: Harold Brown, Flowery Branch, GA; her sons and daughters-in-law: Milton and Fran Brown, Alto, GA; Eldridge and Susan Brown, Lula, GA; her daughter-in-law: Ruth Brown, Murrayville, GA; her sister: Dora Brown, Gainesville, GA; her brothers: Bill Gerrin, and Alton Gerrin, both of Rome, GA; 23 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 from the Crossroads Baptist Church with Rev. Luther Williams and Rev. Roy Lee Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, from 6 until 9 p.m. on Sunday and again from 6 until 9 p.m. on Monday.
