GRADY AUTRY, age 90, of Alto, Georgia, passed away on Monday, December 3, 2012, at Habersham Medical Center. Mr. Autry was born on July 2, 1922, in Alto, Georgia to the late Robert Newton and Curley Beaty Autry. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James Harley Autry and his sister, Ruby Autry Glover. Mr. Autry was a United States Navy Veteran having proudly served his country during World War II. He was a retired truck driver with Fieldale Farms with 17 years of service. Grady collected and made Indian artifacts. He also collected coins and old telephone and electric power pole insulators. Mr. Autry attended Alto Congregational Holiness Church, where he taught the Adult Sunday School Class for 40 years. Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Dorothy Coley Autry, Alto, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila and Jerry Blackburn, Carlton, GA and Jeanie and Mike Sims, Cleveland, GA; son, Jerry Lee Autry, Alto, GA; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 6, 2012, at Alto Congregational Holiness Church with Rev. Leon Brown, Rev. Tim Beasley, and Rev. Sanford Kimbrell officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 5, 2012, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia.
