Gordon Lee Davis

Mr. Gordon Lee Davis, age 85 of Bethlehem, Georgia passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2010 at a private healthcare center following an extended illness. Born in Fulton County, Georgia on December 29, 1924, he was a son of the late Arthur Lee Roy and Ida Bell Rainey Davis. Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his five brothers and sisters. Mr. Davis was a U.S. Army Veteran having served his country proudly during WWII in which he received the Purple Heart and a Gold Star. He retired from the Plumbing and Heating Industry after 67 years of service and was a member of the local 72 Atlanta Plumbers and Steamfitters. Mr. Davis was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Olivia R. Davis, Bethlehem, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Carolyn Davis, Bethlehem, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda D. and Ron Bonner, Lawrenceville, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Margaret Davis, Auburn, GA; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled for 12 Noon Thursday, January 28, 2010 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel in Demorest with Dr. Earl Bland officiating. Interment will follow in the Yonah Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the American Legion Post # 84, the Grant Reeves VFW Post # 7720, and the Rabun County DAV Chapter # 15. The family will receive friends at the North Chapel in Demorest from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday.
