Gladys Smith Mccoy

Gladys Smith McCoy, age 85, of Mt. Airy, GA, died Monday, October 26, 2009 at a private care facility. Mrs. McCoy was born on September 26, 1924 in Banks County, Georgia to the late William Joseph and Lucy Lela Ward Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, T. L. McCoy and five brothers and three sisters. Mrs. McCoy was a member of the Camp Creek Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Survivors include: her daughter: Linda Susan McClure, Gainesville, GA; her sons: Richard Lewis McCoy and Thomas Wayne McCoy, both of Mt. Airy, GA; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2009 from the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia with Rev. Billy Burrell and Rev. Dena Bearl officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the North Chapel from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28, 2009. Arrangements are in the care of Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia.
