Gilbert H. Paul, Sr.

Gilbert H. Paul, Sr., age 71, of Sautee-Nacoochee, GA, died Friday, September 7, 2007 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Mr. Paul was born on July 3, 1936 in Conway, SC to the late Robert Wilson and Mary Martin Paul. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister. Mr. Paul was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church of Clarkesville, GA; there he served as a deacon. He was a retired Master Sgt. from the United States Air Force after serving his country for 26 years including the Vietnam Conflict. Mr. Paul was also a retired Medical Administrative Supervisor and was formerly employed with The City of Helen. He was an active member of the Rabun County Disabled American Veterans Post #15. Survivors include: his wife: Loretta Jean Henderson Paul, Sautee, GA; his daughter and son-in-law: Debra and Dr. Bernard Ram, Baldwin, GA; his daughter: Margaret McKinnes, Lawrenceville, GA; his daughter and son-in-law: Tina and James Craig, Cornelia, GA; his son and daughter-in-law: Gilbert, Jr. and Vanessa Paul, Sautee, GA; his sisters: Charlotte Eason and Lela Roberts, Conway, SC; 14 grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, September 15, 2007 from the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Joe Jenkins officiating. Full military honors will be provided by the Rabun County DAV Post #15 and the Habersham County American Legion Post #84. The family will receive friends following the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 679 Hollywood Church Road, Clarkesville, GA 30523. Arrangements are in the care of Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia.
