GEORGE "CALVO" FRY, age 88, of Demorest, Georgia, died Tuesday, July 3, 2007. Mr. Fry was born on October 24, 1918 to the late George and Wilda Fry. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three grandchildren, Ronnie Maloy, Elaine Maloy, and Teresa Fry, his brothers, Alvin Fry, Osco Fry, and Levo Fry as well as his sisters, Connie McEntire and Beulah Bannon. He was a life long resident of Habersham County, GA. Mr. Fry was a United States Army World War II veteran. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was retired from North Georgia Technical College Dining Hall after 33 years of service. Mr. Fry was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church. Survivors include: his wife of 70 years, Margie Smith Fry, Demorest, GA; his sons and daughters-in-law: Alton, Sr. and Ruth Fry, Clarkesville, GA; Sherill and Rosalie Fry, Clarkesville, GA; his son: Bruce Fry, Demorest, GA; his daughters and sons-in-law: Linda and Paul Skelton, Demorest, GA; Myrle and Charlie Rodriguez, Demorest, GA; his daughter: Shelby Harris, Austell, GA; his brother: Freeman Fry, Clarkesville, GA; his sister: Thelma Nix, Cornelia, GA; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 5, 2007 from the Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Williams and Rev. Raymond Payne officiating. All family and friends are ask to meet at the church by 1:45 p.m. on Thursday. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Rev. Leon Miller and Rev. Paris Whitworth officiating at the graveside. The family will receive friends at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday.
