Geneva Sue Weaver Smith, age 90, of Cornelia, GA, died Sunday, April 16, 2006 at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Smith was born on May 31, 1915 in Oconee Co., SC to the late Amon Young Weaver and Lillie Ellen Holbrooks Weaver. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Henry Loyd Smith, a daughter Pauline Smith Koeller, and an infant daughter Linda Grace Smith. She was the oldest of 12 children, and was also preceded in death by her sisters Stella Smith Wall and Ellen Weaver Rudeseal, as well as three brothers Walter, Joe, and Billy Weaver. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and a member of Level Grove Baptist for 57 years where she taught Sunday School and Bible School and was a dedicated prayer warrior. She was a loving and faithful wife and mother who enjoyed fishing and peeling and drying apples. Mrs. Smith blessed many people through her dried apples, even orphans in Russia. Survivors include: her daughters: Doris and Fay Blackburn, Cornelia, GA; Mrs. Edward ( Betty) Massey, Homer, GA; Juanita and Harold Garrett, Riverdale, GA; Glenda and Dywane Dotson, Dickinson, AL; her son: J.L. and Wonetta Smith, Cornelia, GA; an honorary daughter: Joyce and George Dyer, Cornelia, GA; her sister: Pearl Rudeseal, Turnerville, GA; her brothers: Gordon Weaver, Melane, NC; John Luther Weaver, Turnerville, GA; Bob Weaver, Dillard, GA;Claude Weaver, Toccoa, GA; Paris Weaver, Westminister, SC. Mrs. Smith is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at 2:00 PM from the Level Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Rice, Rev. Austin Kelley, and Pastor Dean Bryant officiating. Interment will follow in the Hazel Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Eric Shelton and Rev. Bill Ford officiating at the graveside. The family will receive friends at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, GA from 7-9 PM on Monday and 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Tuesday.
