Garland James "Zeke" Brookshire

Garlin James "Zeke" Brookshire, age 74, of Demorest, GA passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2011, following an extended illness. Mr. Brookshire was born on December 6, 1936, in Habersham County to the late Frank James and Carrie Burrell Brookshire. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Rev. William "Bill" Humphries, Blanton Kimbrell, Curtis Hardy, and Odis Hunt, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, B.W. "Jack" and Lela Kimbrell, sister-in-law, Francis Brookshire, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Christine and Frank Dill. Mr. Brookshire was a member of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Demorest, GA. He was also a member of the Clarkesville Masonic Lodge #325 F&AM. Mr. Brookshire proudly serviced his country in the United States Army Reserve. He retired from Scovill Manufacturing Company as a maintenance superintendent with 51 years of loyal and dedicated service. Mr. Brookshire was the owner/operator of Brookdale Mobile Home Park for 46 years. Mr. Brookshire was loved by many and will be missed by all. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Mary Faye Kimbrell Brookshire, Demorest, GA; son, Chad James Brookshire, Demorest, GA; sister, Wilma Brookshire Humphries, Demorest, GA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mildred Brookshire and Grady Locke, Lula, GA, Faye Brookshire and Julian Newton, Demorest, GA; twin brother, Arlin Frank Brookshire, Demorest, GA; brothers-in-law and spouses, James and Dorothy Kimbrell, and Bradley and Mavis Kimbrell, both of Mt. Airy, GA; sisters-in-law, Joyce Kimbrell, Mr. Airy, GA, Geraldine Hunt, Toccoa, GA, and Oudia Mae Hardy, Cornelia, GA; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, GA with Rev. Russ Barker, Rev. Larry Ryals, Rev. Robert Truelove, and Mr. Jim Holloway officiating. Burial will follow in the Yonah Memorial Gardens. Full Military Honors will be provided by the Georgia National Guard. Mr. Brookshire will also receive honors provided by the Clarkesville Masonic Lodge #325 F&AM. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., on Monday, March 28, 2011, at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, GA.
