Gail L. Farrell

GAIL L. FARRELL, Clarkesville Artist, age 63, of 250 Springwood Drive, passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2007 after a five-year battle with colon cancer. Ms. Farrell was born in Harrison, New York and raised in Miami Springs, Florida. She was preceded in death by her father, James M. Farrell. She is survived by her husband, James Hinkley, her mother, Ruth Farrell, and her sisters, Sherry Thomas and Wendy Farrell, and her brother, Steven Farrell. Ms. Farrell moved to California in 1969 where she received formal training in the creation and marketing of fine art. She worked in a number of galleries in Carmel and San Diego, before moving with her husband to Habersham County in 1997. Ms. Farrell worked in a variety of art media, including watercolor, oil pastel, printmaking, photography and collage. She said of her work, that it was "the expression of the philosophical and spiritual influences in her life." Her works have been exhibited and sold in galleries in San Diego, Phoenix, Sedona, Santa Fe, Durango, and Aspen, as well as in local galleries in the Center at Sautee and the Heritage Center for the Arts in Tallulah Falls. She loved to share her work with others and volunteered at the Heritage Center for a number of years. "She was the sweetest, most joyfully playful woman I've ever known," said her husband, who smiled as he remembered her; saying, "She made loving friends of everyone she met, and knew the power of their love in the enrichment of her life and theirs." A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. ARRANGEMENTS ARE IN THE CARE OF WHITFIELD FUNERAL HOME, NORTH CHAPEL, DEMOREST, GEORGIA.
