FRED T. ALLEN, age 88, of Clarkesville, GA, died Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at the Habersham County Medical Center. Mr. Allen was born on March 15, 1918 in White County, Georgia. He was a son of the late Walter and Lillie Sosebee Allen and was also preceded in death by sons Kenneth Allen and Jake Allen. Mr. Allen was a United States Army World War II veteran and was a member of the Providence Baptist Church. He was retired from Fieldale Farms with 47 years of service and was also a retired poultry farmer. Survivors include: his wife of 67 years, Eunice Wood Allen, Clarkesville, GA; Daughter: Dorothy Thompson, Clarkesville, GA; Daughter and Son-in-law: Lavalle and Harrison Nix, Turnerville, GA; Sons and Daughters-in-law: Thurman and Patsy Allen, William Donald and Pat Allen, David O. and Lynn Allen, all of Demorest, GA; Jeff and Toni Allen, Batesville, GA; Brother: Paul S. Allen, Demorest, GA; 20 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 16, 2006 from the Providence Baptist Church with Rev. Roy Smith and Rev. Paris Whitworth officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors provided by the Habersham County American Legion Post #84 and the Rabun County DAV Chapter #15. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. to lie in state until the funeral hour on Friday. The family will receive friends at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday.
