FRANK "SONNY" CRUZ, age 72, of Clarkesville, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Cruz was born on October 8, 1941, in San Juan Pueblo, New Mexico to the late Francisco and Felicita Martinez Cruz. He was also preceded in death by his son, Harold Robert Cruz; son in law, Robert Wesley Jennings, and several siblings. Mr. Cruz was of the Catholic faith. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Cruz was retired from C & H Mechanical. Survivors include his wife, R. Manuelita Cruz, Clarkesville; daughter, F. Angela Cruz Jennings, Covington; grandson, Cody Cruz, Baldwin; great grandchild, Kaylen Jade Cruz, Baldwin; sister, Dora Mae Cruz and brother, Wilbert Cruz, both of San Juan Pueblo, New Mexico; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., on Friday, May 23, 2014, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia with Father José Luis Hernández-Ayala officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by The Georgia National Guard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2014. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Mrs. Manuelita Cruz, 634 Dooley Road, Clarkesville, GA 30523, to help with medical expenses.
