Flossie Tench Harris

FLOSSIE TENCH HARRIS, age 85, of Cornelia, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at a local private care facility. Mrs. Harris was born on October 8, 1925, in Habersham County, Georgia, to the late Walter Baxter and Willie Lorena Faulkner Tench. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John William Harris, her brother, Jack Tench, and her son-in-law, James E. Irvin. Mrs. Harris was a member of New Hope Baptist Church having served as a choir director for 20 plus years. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Survivors include her daughter, Edith Irvin, Cornelia, GA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dora Tench Trotter and Oliver, Lula, GA, Ruby Tench Brown and William, Rome, GA, and Linda Tench Tanksley and Telford, Cornelia, GA; sister-in-law, Dorothy Tench, Reklaw, TX; grandchildren, Johnny Irvin, Michael Irvin, and Marlena Irvin Sosebee and her husband, D.J.; great-grandchildren, Nicole Irvin, Christa Irvin, Brittany Irvin, Isabella Sosebee, and Loralei Sosebee; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2011, at New Hope Baptist Church in Cornelia, Georgia, with Rev. Chris York and Rev. Anthony Shore officiating. Burial will follow in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, April 1, 2011, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia.
