Evelyn Marie Loudermilk Smith of Mt Airy, Georgia went home to be with the Lord on April 19,2006. She was a devoted Christian, faithful wife and loving Mother. She was an avid reader, enjoyed writing, and was a member of the Georgia Romance Writers Association and the Romance Writers of America. She loved to travel. Before her health began to decline, she traveled the East Coast, took several cruises and spent many happy days in Ormond Beach, Florida. Her home was always open; she enjoyed entertaining guests. Her grandchildren felt they grew up in the home and countless nieces and nephews enjoyed many happy days at "Aunt Evelyn's." She was married for sixty years to William "Billy" Smith of the home She was a member of Camp Creek Baptist Church Her parents, George Edgar Loudermilk and Zelma Perry Loudermilk, preceded her in death. She is survived by her brother, Ray Loudermilk, and her sister, Mildred Brewster, both of Mt. Airy. She is also survived by her husband, five children and their families; Linda and Barry Church and Dwayne and Mary Smith of Mt. Airy. Eddie Smith of Clemson, South Carolina, Sherry and Marvin Hudson of Washington, Georgia, and Terry and Leslie Smith of Clarkesville, Georgia. There are ten grandchildren David Banks and Shann Miller of Mt. Airy, DeAnn and Dr.Jon Hobbs of Greenwood, South Carolina, and Brentt Church of New York City, New York; Becky and Lee Eenisse of Young Harris, Georgia, and Jodi Smith of Mt. Airy; Zack and Chasity Hudson of Augusta, Georgia and Breckyn Hudson of Washington, Georgia; Tyler and Taylor Smith of Clarkesville. There are fifteen great grandchildren. Cameron, Cassie and Courtney Banks, Caitlyn and Gracie Miller; Madison, William and Julia Hobbs; Taylor, Laura, Jonathan and David Eernisse, Rachel and Abbie McKenna; and Camden Hudson. The funeral services will be held Saturday, April 22, 2006 at Camp Creek Baptist Church at 200 p.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends Friday, April 21, at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia from 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Arrangements are in the care of Whitfield Funeral Home,North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia.
