Evelyn Arrendale Shirley

Evelyn Arrendale Shirley, age 76, of Demorest, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2011, following an extended illness. Mrs. Shirley was born in Habersham County, Georgia, on May 29, 1935; she was the daughter of the late J. Charles and Carrie Owensby Arrendale. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold C. Shirley, sister, Lucille Franklin, brothers, Ray, Phillip and Jerry Arrendale. Mrs. Shirley was a member of Unity Baptist Church. She was a retired shipping clerk from Regency. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Aaron Wilbanks, Cornelia, GA; son, Hal C. Shirley, Clarkesville, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Charles Preston and Jacqueline Shirley, Oklahoma City, OK, and Perry M. and Scarlett Shirley; sisters, Martha Welch, Mt. City, GA, and Susan Erlene Welborn, FL; 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2011, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, GA with Rev. James Harvey and Rev. Wesley Purcell officiating. Interment will follow in the Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 25, 2011, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, GA.
