Eva Kathryn Simmons Smith

EVA KATHRYN SIMMONS SMITH, age 91, of Baldwin, Georgia, formerly of Demorest, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2012. Ms. Smith was born on October 2, 1920, in Jackson County, Georgia; a daughter of the late Camuel Cleveland and Millie Charlotte King Simmons. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Vasco, Alonzo, and James Vernon Simmons and her sister, Bonnie Eller. Prior to retirement, Ms. Smith worked in various retail sales positions and also as an Avon Representative for many years. She was a member of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Demorest, Georgia. Survivors include her daughter, Beverly Smith, South Carolina; son, Mitchell Smith and his partner, Michael Edwards, Atlanta, GA; sister, Beulah Boswell, Gainesville, GA; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2012, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until the memorial service hour on Saturday.
