Eugene Talmadge Pruitt

EUGENE TALMADGE PRUITT, age 80, of Baldwin, Georgia, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2013, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Mr. Pruitt was born on August 12, 1932, in Banks County, to the late Noah Lee and Flora Smith Pruitt. He was a United States Army Veteran having proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Pruitt was a retired carpenter with 30 years of service. He was former Deputy Sheriff with Banks County Sheriff Department and a former policeman with the cities of Clarkesville and Mt. Airy. Mr. Pruitt was a member of Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church and Local Carpenters Union #225. Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Betty Wilbanks Pruitt, Baldwin; daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Stephen Ely, Sandy Springs; sons and daughters-in-law, Gene and Peggy Pruitt, Cornelia and Greg and Pam Pruitt, Alto; several nieces and nephews; granddaughters, Brandi Kimbrell, Kristy Hill, and Kimberly Pruitt; and great-granddaughters, Madeline Garrison, Tinsley Hill, and Riley Kimbrell. Mr. Pruitt was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2013, at Mountain View Baptist Church with Rev. James Harvey and Rev. Austin Kelley officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the Habersham County American Legion Post #84, the Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720, the Rabun County DAV Chapter #15, and the Georgia National Guard. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. on Friday, July 26, 2013, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia.
