ELSIE M. STAPLES, age 95, of Mexico, Missouri, died Saturday, March 4, 2006 at a private care facility. Mrs. Staples was born on April 4, 1910 in Springfield, IL, the daughter of Ira C. and Melvina Lenz Aldrich. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John W. Staples, a step-son, Howard, one step-daughter, Eunice, as well as four brothers and three sisters. Mrs. Staples was the assistant office manager at International Shoe Co. She was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid Society, AARP, and Lutheran Women's Missionary League. Survivors include: 3 step-sons and their wives: Robert and Margaret Staples, Miami, FL; James and Peggy Staples, Cornelia, GA; John T. and Susan Staples, Sulphur, OK; 1 step-daughter: Margaret Ricketson, Clarkesville, GA; Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren survive as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 10, 2006 from the St. John Lutheran Church, Mexico, Missouri, with Rev. Joel Krueger and Rev. James Rhiver officiating. Burial will follow in the East Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the Arnold Funeral Home, Mexico, MO, from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday.
