Elsie B. Gibson

ELSIE B. GIBSON, age 81, of Cornelia, GA, died Tuesday, November 28, 2006 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Mrs. Gibson was born on January 4, 1925 in Fulton County, Georgia to the late Roy Roland and Theodosia Mae Brown Butler. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Paul Gibson as well as a brother and four sisters. Mrs. Gibson was a member of the Cornelia Christian Church and volunteered for Meals of Wheels and the Soup Kitchen. She was retired from Life of Georgia. Survivors include: Daughter and son-in-law; Carole and Jim McCollum, Baldwin, GA; Step-daughters and son-in-law: Carol and Larry Stephenson, Marietta, GA; Step-daughter: Sandra Lannette Gibson, Jonesboro, GA; Step-daughter and son-in-law: Joyce and Butch Joyner, Jonesboro, GA; Son and daughter-in-law: Richard and Vivian Young, Fayetteville, GA; Step-son and daughter-in-law: Bill and Martha Gibson, Decatur, GA; Grandchildren: Brendan McCollum, Ginny McCollum, and Lawren Young; Numerous Step-grandchildren and Her Best Friend, Gladys Newell. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 1, 2006 from the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin with David Terrell officiating. Burial will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour on Friday.
