ELOISE P. BLANKENSHIP, age 80, of Turnerville, GA, died Monday, January 29, 2007 at a local area hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Blankenship was born on January 2, 1927 in White County, Georgia to the late William T. and Dolly Hester Potts. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Blankenship was also preceded in death by two sisters Mary Lou Potts Alito and Betty Jane Griffin. She was a member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Hollywood, GA, and the Midnight Sun, Chapter # 6 O & S in Fairbanks, Alaska. Mrs. Blankenship was retired from the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services. Survivors include: her husband of 53 years, Ethan L. Blankenship, Turnerville, GA; her sister: Ella Peal, Georgetown, KY; her brothers: Charles W. Potts, Piedmont, SC; Mark R. Potts, Monroe, NC; 2 nieces: Mary Thompson, Georgetown, KY and Jill Perry Piedmont, SC; 1 great-nephew: Jay McCutchean and 1 great-niece: Laura Perry, both of Piedmont, SC. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 1, 2007 at the Ebenezer United Methodist Church with Rev. Tony Kemp officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ebenezer United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 603, Clarkesville, GA 30523.
