Elizabeth Ward Turner

Elizabeth Ward Turner, age 73, of the Rocks Springs Community, Lula, Georgia, died Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Mrs. Turner was born on August 10, 1936 in Morgan County, Georgia to the late George Glenn, Sr. and Lonnie Gowder Ward. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Roy Ward, George Ward, Albert Ward & Glenn Ward, Jr.; her sisters, Mary Lou Lankford, Mildred Hilsman, Rushie Ward, and Lucy Grace Ward, and her father and mother-in-law: W. F. and Floyce Turner. Mrs. Turner attended the Hickory Flat United Methodist Church. She was an avid gardener who loved to share her vegetables and flowers. Mrs. Turner was also an avid traveler and shopper and loved cooking, music and reading her Bible. She loved her family and grandchildren and "social time" with all of her family, friends, and extended family. Survivors include: her husband of 53 years, Howard Turner, Lula, GA; her daughters and sons-in-law: Beverley and George Tuggle, Emmitsburg, Maryland; Sandra and Tim Garner, Rock Springs Community, Lula, GA; Doris and Kim Cantrell, Mt. Airy, GA; Angela and Blaine Tarnecki, Rock Springs Community, Lula, GA; her brothers: Rufus Ward, Eatonton, GA; Ernest Ward, Madison, GA; her grandchildren: Rebecca Landreth, Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania; Faith Tuggle and April Tuggle, Emmitsburg, Maryland; Anna Garner, Kara Garner, Will Tarnecki, and Mary Beth Tarnecki, all of the Rock Springs Community Lula, GA; Brooke Cantrell, Dylan Cantrell, and Jonah Cantrell, all of Mt. Airy, GA; her sisters-in-law: Evelyn Fowler, Mt. Airy, GA; Carol Ward, Florine Ward, Margie Ward, & Mary Ward, all of Madison, GA; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 22, 2010 at the Rock Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Cameron, Rev. George Tuggle, and Pastor Blaine Tarnecki officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 21, 2010.
