ELIZABETH EPPERSON, age 88, of Huff Avenue, Cornelia, GA, died Tuesday, September 19, 2006 at a private care facility. Mrs. Epperson was born on December 18, 1917 in Meridian, Mississippi. She was a daughter of the late James Laurence and Ora Jackson Stallings and was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter L. Epperson, brothers, James Stallings, George Stallings, and Pete Stallings. Mrs. Epperson was a member of the Cornelia United Methodist Church; there she was a member of The Crusaders Sunday School class having served as President of her class for 26 years as well as a member of the Tillie Stinespring Circle. She was a member of the AARP Chapter 2040 and a member of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Epperson was the store manager for Cassells United Variety Store with 12 years of service. She was the last of her immediate family. Survivors include: her children: Carol Ann Epperson, Cornelia, GA; Jo and Doug Walter, Cornelia, GA; Debbie and Jerry Burrell, Mt. Airy, GA; Grandchildren: Tara and Kevin Brookshire, Demorest, GA; Brad and Amy Walter, Winterville, GA; Wendi and Ray Woods, Lula, GA; Great-grandchildren: Seth Walter, Audrey Walter and Ava Brookshire. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 23, 2006 from the Cornelia United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Green, Rev. Wayne Smith, Rev. Marcus Martin, and Rev. Bob Ramsey officiating. Burial will follow in the Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday. Mrs. Epperson will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday to lie in state until the funeral hour. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to the Cornelia United Methodist Church, 275 Wyly Street, Cornelia, GA 30531.
