Eli Petitt

Mr. Eli Petitt, age 84, of Demorest, passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at a private care facility following an extended illness. Mr. Petitt was born on December 26, 1926, in White County, Georgia. He was the son of the late, James Harbert and Loucinda Thomas Petitt. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lee Petitt, daughter, Shirlon Diane Petitt, son, Garrison Eli Petitt, granddaughter, Wendy Cochran, brothers, J.D. & Robert Petitt. Mr. Petitt was a member of Amy's Creek Baptist Church, Clarkesville, Georgia. He was a retired self-employed Fieldale Chicken Farmer. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Delphia L. "Dee" and Gary Charles, Clarkesville, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Farrell L. and Dolly Petitt, Demorest, GA; sisters, Rose Gooch, Mae Loggins, Mary Lou Skelton and Pauline Blakney all of Cleveland, GA; brothers, John Petitt, Cornelia, GA and Lum G. Petitt, Cleveland, GA; 2 grandchildren, Sean Kevin Cochan and Christy Leigh Petitt. Services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 17, 2011, at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, GA with Rev. Steve Merck and Rev. Paris Whitworth officiating. Interment will follow in the Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 - 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2011, at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, GA.
