Elaine Allen Burton, age 74, Clarkesville, Georgia, passed away on Friday, April 11, 2014 at the residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Burton was born on May 31, 1939 in Clarkesville, Georgia to the late Frank and Martha Sosebee Allen. She was also preceded in death by brother, Jimmy Allen; sisters, Dorothy Jean Burton, Brenda Lee Sweeten; granddaughter, Tina Marie Goss. Mrs. Burton was a member of Amy's Creek Baptist Church. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Burton was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Survivors include her husband, Journey Burton, Clarkesville; daughters and sons in law, Wanda Jean and Marty Frady, Clarkesville, Dianne and George Peppers, Clarkesville; son and fiancé, Michael Steven Burton and Jenny Moore, Clarkesville; sisters, Evelyn Sweeten, Clarkesville, Rita Addis, Clarkesville; brother, Phillip Allen, Demorest; Seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia with Rev. Bill Trotter, Rev. Mike Irvin and Rev. Austin Kelley officiating. Interment will follow in the Cool Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Monday, April 14, 2014.
