EDWARD EUGENE ECHOLS, age 85, of Clermont, GA, formerly of Lula, GA died Saturday, December 23, 2006, at the residence following an extended illness. Mr. Echols was born in Hall County, GA., on March 28, 1921, to the late Walker and Nancy Wheeler Echols. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Winnie Hart Echols, and a sister, Carrene Barrett. Mr. Echols was a member of the Yonah Congregational Holiness Church. He had formerly been employed with Lumite (Chicopee Corp.), Warren Feather Bone, and was a retired care giver with the Communicable Disease Center Survivors include: two daughters & sons-in-law: Brenda and Fred Masters, Lula, GA, Pam and James Beasley, Clermont, GA, two sisters: Gladys Echols, Cornelia, GA, Boyd McEver, Lula, GA, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm on Wednesday, December 27, 2006 from the Yonah Congregational Holiness Church, with the Rev. John Umberhant, Rev. Lester Haynes, and Rev. Lamar Kastner officiating. Burial will follow in the Yonah Congregational Holiness Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm Tuesday, December 26, 2006, from the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, GA.
