EDNA KEMMISH REEVES ELLARD, age 84, of Cornelia, GA, died Monday, February 2, 2009 at her residence. Mrs. Ellard was born on December 5, 1924 in Rapid City, South Dakota to the late George B. Kemmish and Flora Belle Chaffe Kemmish Baatz. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by, her first husband, William Reeves, her brothers, Paul Kemmish, Claude Kemmish, and Vern Kemmish, as well as a sister, Helen Kemmish Brenner. Mrs. Ellard was the widow of Jack Ellard, former Clerk of the State House Legislature. She went to work with Northwestern Bell Telephone in Rapid City, South Dakota in 1942 and in 1943 she went to work for Southwestern Bell in Odessa Texas. In 1944, Mrs. Ellard moved to Northeast Georgia and worked for Standard Telephone for five years. She was then employed by the Credit Bureau of Habersham County from 1949 to 1970 having retired as Manager. Mrs. Ellard was a member of the Cornelia First Baptist Church. She was a member of the Habersham County Historical Society and a volunteer with the Habersham County Chamber of Commerce and the Habersham County Library. Survivors include: her niece: Karen Kemmish Carpenter, Tulsa, OK; her step-sister-in-law: Letha Tuchek, El Cajon, CA; her niece: Lois Jenson, El Cajon, CA; her sister-in-law: Virginia Kemmish; her nephews: Robert Brenner, Perris, CA; Charles Brenner, Hereford, SD; her great-nephews: Matthew Brenner, Sand Springs, OK; Jeremiah Brenner, Collinsville, OK; her great-nieces: Cassandra Brenner-Wong, Memphis, TN; Johanna Brenner, Tulsa, OK; Amanda Brenner, Demorest, GA; Jessica Brenner, Norman, OK; her great-nephew: James Cody Brenner, Elgin, OK. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 8, 2009 from the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia with Rev. David Turner officiating. Interment will follow in Level Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12 Noon until the funeral hour on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Methodist Children's Home, 500 South Columbia Drive, Decatur, GA 30030.
