Edna Carlene Hemphill

Carlene Hudgins Hemphill, age 75, of Clarkesville, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2025.

Mrs. Hemphill was born on July 31, 1949 in Griffin, Georgia to the late Edward and Irene Hudgins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Douglas Hudgins and grandparents, Basil and Linnie Burdette. Carlene graduated from Shorter College, earning her Bachelor's Degree before embarking on a remarkable 37-year career with the United States Postal Service. Starting as postmaster in Milner, Georgia, she later received a well-deserved promotion to Demorest, Georgia, where she continued to serve with diligence and compassion until her retirement. Carlene was not only known for her professional achievements but also for her unwavering love for animals. Above all, Carlene will be remembered for her role as a loving wife, a devoted mother, and a joyful "Mimi".

Survivors include her loving husband of 53 years, Johnny Hemphill, of Clarkesville; daughter, Julie Hemphill, of Knoxville, TN; son, John Hemphill, of Fayetteville; grandson, John Peyton Hemphill; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at the Georgia National Cemetery with Friend, Larry Shuler officiating.
