Edna Colquitt Harris, age 89, of Demorest, formerly of Dekalb County, Georgia, passed away on Monday, September 13, 2010, at her residence. Mrs. Harris was born on April 14, 1921, in Oglethorpe County, Georgia, to the late W.W. and Julia Holmes Colquitt. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Harris and two sisters and a brother. Mrs. Harris was a graduate of Decatur Girls High and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Tucker, GA. She was a secretary for the Tuberculosis Control Division of the Centers for Disease Control. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and David Irvin, Clarkesville, GA; 2 grandchildren, Stephanie Irvin and Brian Irvin and several nieces and nephews. She was the last of her immediate family. The family will receive friends at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, GA from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 16, 2010. Private graveside services will be held by the family at the Melwood Cemetery in Stone Mountain, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Antioch Baptist Church, 2175 Antioch Church Road, Mt. Airy, GA 30563.
