EDNA BELL, age 88 of Baldwin, formerly of Toccoa, GA, died Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at a private health care facility. Mrs. Bell was born on January 29, 1919 in Stephens County, Georgia to the late Ernest and Marie Holcomb Purcell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Angus A. Bell, a grandson, David Purcell and a daughter-in-law, Nell Purcell as well as her sister, Mary Hampton, and brothers, Clarence Purcell, and Terrell Purcell. Mrs. Bell was a member of the Sunnyside Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Survivors include: her son: Elbert Purcell, Snellville, GA; her step-daughter: Peggy Bell, Clarkesville, GA; her sisters: Joyce Collins, Toccoa, GA; Agnes Brown, Martin, GA; Helen Taylor, Marietta, GA; Ruby Ferguson, Dawsonville, GA; Nancy Watson, Mansfield, GA; her brother, Edward Purcell, Toccoa, GA; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 25, 2008 from the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia with Rev. Bill Evans and Rev. Robert Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in the Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday.
