Edith Marie Lovell Masters

Edith Lovell Masters, age 85, of Cornelia, GA died Saturday, June 30, 2007 following a sudden illness. Mrs. Masters was born on December 19, 1921 in Habersham County to the late J. Carlton and Bertha Nicholson Lovell. She was also preceded in death by her husband: Oscar "Blue" Masters, brothers: Isaac N. Lovell, Buren C. Lovell and J.E. Lovell, brother-in-law: Rev. Charles Masters, father-in-law and mother-in-law: Garnett and Dorothy Masters. Edith was a devoted Christian and taught Sunday School for many years at Victory Baptist Church, Clarkesville, Georgia and Calvary Baptist Church, Toccoa, Georgia. She enjoyed studying her Bible and working in her yard. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law: Margaret and Millard Goodnough of Greenville, SC and Carol and Douglas McDonald, Sr. of Cornelia, Georgia; brothers and sister-in-law Hobert Lovell, Bynum Lovell and Hebron and Peggy Lovell; grandchildren: Brian and Susan Goodnough, Fort Collins, CO, Josh and Sarah Goodnough, Greenville, SC, Lisa M Herrin, Baldwin, GA, Tim and Jill M. Batson, Gus McDonald, Cornelia, GA, John and Amy M. Hoffman, Gainesville, GA; nine great grandchildren; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law: Herman and Betty Masters, Robert Masters and Dorlyn Masters; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 2, 2007 from Level Grove Baptist Church, Cornelia, GA with Rev. Brian James, Rev. Donald Grizzle and Rev. Terry Rice officiating. Burial will follow at Victory Baptist Church, Clarkesville, Georgia. Family will receive friends on Sunday, July 1, 2007 at 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM from Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia.
