ED POOLE, age 83, of Baldwin, GA, died Sunday, January 28, 2007 at the VA Medical Center. Mr. Poole was born on November 10, 1923 in Banks County, Georgia to the late John Stovall and Rosa Lee Sellers Poole. He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amy Poole, sisters, Louise Roberts and Lola Mason as well as brothers, Tom Poole and J. D. Poole. Mr. Poole was a United States Army World War II veteran having received the Purple Heart award. He was a member of the Line Baptist Church; there he served as a deacon and former chairman of Building and Grounds Committee for several years. Mr. Poole was a lifetime member of the D.A.V. and was a cattle and agricultural farmer. Survivors include: his wife: Agnes Dalton Poole, Baldwin, GA; his daughter, Mary Lee Poole, Oakwood, GA; his daughters and sons-in-law: Susie and Roger Osborn, Homer, GA; Anita and Wayne Caudell, Toccoa, GA; his sons and daughters-in-law: David and Diane Poole, Windell and Deloise Poole, Douglas and Joy Poole, Johnny and Rebecca Poole, and Keith and Regina Poole, all of Baldwin, GA; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 31, 2007 from the Line Baptist Church with Rev. Kenneth McEntire and Rev. Garry Garrison officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Rev. Wayne Strickland officiating at the graveside with full military honors conducted by the United States Army. The family will receive friends at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin from 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday to lie in state until the funeral hour.
