Durward M. Jones

Services for Durward M. Jones will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, June 15, 2006 at Dawson Street Baptist Church where he was a charter member. The Rev. Lee Waller will officiate and interment will be in Lairel Hill Cemetery. Mr. Jones died June 11 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Born March 24, 1934 in Grady County, GA, he was the son of the late Malcolm and Myrtle Johnson Jones. On March 11, 1956 at the Presbyterian Church in Thomasville he married Alma Renfroe Jones who survives. Mr. Jones was a veteran of the United States Army. He was the retired president of the Habersham Federal Savings and Loan Association of Cornelia, GA. Mr. Jones was a deacon, Sunday School teacher, member of the Kiwanis Club and previous Kiwanian of the Year and past chairman of Cub Scout pack 650 Council. Other survivors include a son and daughter-in-law: John Mark and Dawn Burrell Jones, Clarkesville, GA; Daughter: Susan Elizabeth Jones, Littleton, CO; Grandchildren: Abagail, Hannah, and Christopher Jones, McKenzie, Michael, and McClay Caulley; Brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Norman and LeGrande Renfroe, Thomasville, GA; Mother-in-law: Frances Renfroe Yawn. Memorials may be made to the Dawson Street Baptist Church, 1025 N. Dawson Street, Thomasville, GA 31792. The family will receive friends atthe funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday.
