DUEY FINLEY, age 84, of Damascus Road, Homer, Georgia passed away on Thursday, November 11, 2010, at his residence. Mr. Finley was born on January 18, 1926, in Columbus, Georgia to the late Acie and Alice Bryant Finley. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela Ellis. Mr. Finley was the last of his immediate family. He was retired from the United States Army and proudly served his country for 20 dedicated years having served in World War II and the Korean Conflict. Mr. Finley also retired from Sears in Atlanta with 22 years of service as a security officer. He was a member of Damascus Baptist Church. Mr. Finley provided one of this area's largest displays of Christmas lights each year for everyone to enjoy. Survivors include his wife, Brenda Kesler Finley, Homer, GA; his daughters and sons-in-laws, Diane and Jay Judy, Walterboro, South Carolina, Elsie and Barry Scercy, Homer, GA; daughters, Debbie Hunt, Charleston, South Carolina, and Jeanie Clemmer, Maryville, Tennessee; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 13, 2010, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, with Rev. Roy Rogers and Rev. Gene Todd officiating. Interment will follow in Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Chad Payne officiating and with full Military Honors. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. on Friday, November 12, 2010, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, GA.
