Douglas Truman Williams, age 61 of Alto, GA died Monday, July 30, 2007 at home following an extended illness. Mr. Williams was born in Calhoun Co., AL on September 12, 1945 to the late William T and Susie Mae Williams. In addition to his parents He was preceded in death by a one step-son Bryan Stowers and two brothers: Larry and Bill Williams. He was of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Williams was an U.S. Army Sergeant E-5 Veteran having served two Tours during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a well known, respected diesel mechanic as well as a truck driver for many years. Survivors include: his wife: Debra Williams, Alto, GA; three daughters; Tammy Lott, Becky Durbin, and Kimberly Braswell; one son: Doug Williams Jr.; one sister Betty Sue Robinson; four brothers: Ed, Kenneth, Joe, and Jimmy Williams. Eleven grandchildren: Michelle Cummings, Ashley Cummings, Amber Williams, Tyler Williams, Bailey Williams, Camryn Williams, Matthew Whidby, Brittany Orr, Erica Braswell, Annah Braswell, Kadee Braswell; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, August 2, 2007 at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel with Rev. Scott Ledbetter officiating. Burial will follow in the Baldwin City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 1, 2007 from 9 am until 9 pm at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel. Arrangements are in the care of Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, GA.
