Dorene Barrett

Dorene Barrett, age 79, of Cornelia, Georgia, passed away on Monday, July 6, 2015, following a sudden illness. Mrs. Barrett was born on February 17, 1936 in Denver, Colorado to the late John and Lena Pruitt McMillian. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lee Barrett; daughter, Martha Jane Barrett; son, James Dillard Barrett; brothers, Jerry Lee and Pete Lee. Mrs. Barrett was a member of Bethesda Fellowship Church. She was a homemaker and a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Survivors include daughters, Carolyn Reece, Cornelia, GA, Marilyn Faulkner, Cornelia, GA, Stormy Bramblett, Cornelia, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Roxana and Gerald Black, Cornelia, GA; son, Jerry Barrett, Alto, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Carole Barrett, Baldwin, GA, Wayne and Carole Barrett, Cornelia, GA; brother, Dick Lee, Topeka, KS; fourteen grandchildren; thirty six great-grandchildren. Funeral Services are scheduled for 11: a.m., Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at Whitfield Funeral Home, North chapel with Rev. Terry Benfield and Rev. Clarence Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow in the Level Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2015.
