Dora Gerrin Brown

DORA GERRIN BROWN, age 93, of Gainesville, Georgia, formerly of Alto, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2011, following an extended illness. Mrs. Brown was born on July 21, 1917, to the late Tom and Roxie Erwin Gerrin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Andrew J. Brown; son, Tommy Brown; sisters, Violet Kelley, Hazel Brown, and Dorothy Wiley; brothers, Grady Gerrin, Alton Gerrin, and Homer Gerrin; granddaughter, Penny Sosebee and her husband, Staff Sergeant Ross P. Sosebee; grandson, David Loggins; three great-grandsons, Jonathan Sosebee, Sergeant Adam Lovell, and Tommy Burnette; and sons-in-law, John Thompson, Jr. and Harold Coley. Mrs. Brown was employed with Carwood Manufacturing Company for 15 years and retired from Gainesville Manufacturing with 10 years of service. She was a member of Community Chapel in Murrayville, Georgia. Survivors include her daughter, Ora Jean Thompson, Gainesville, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Clara Mae and Morris Free, Baldwin, GA, Patricia Ann and Fay Loggins, Gainesville, GA, and Brenda Gail and Bobby Scott, Copperhill, TN; brother, William "Bill" Gerrin, Rome, GA; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 12, 2011, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia with Rev. Pierce Ashmore and Rev. Nathan Hewatt officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens with Rev. Greg Coley, Rev. Anthony Coley, and Rev. Timothy Coley officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. on Friday, February 11, 2011, and from 12:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. on Saturday, February 12, 2011, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia.
