Donald R. Deen

DONALD R. DEEN, age 71, of Mt. Airy, Georgia, formerly of Gwinnett County, passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2010. Mr. Deen was born in Duval County, Florida on March 27, 1939, to the late Henry James and Jennie Brannen Deen of Waycross. He was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Carter, also of Waycross. Mr. Deen proudly served in the United States Navy from 1961-1965 during the Bay of Pigs. He was an electrician with IBEW local #613. Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline "Jackie" Powell Deen, Mt. Airy, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Donna L. and Dennis Morgan, Lawrenceville, GA and Janet L. and Daniel P. Henry, Oakwood, GA; and 4 grandchildren, Briana Ellington, Dillon Morgan, Meagan Henry, and Danny Henry. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 30, 2010, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia with Rev. Michael Justus officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the Rabun County DAV Chapter #15, the Habersham County American Legion Post #84, and the Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, November 29, 2010, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia.
