Dixie Fay Thomason Palmer

DIXIE FAY THOMASON PALMER, age 95, of Demorest, Georgia passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2010. Mrs. Palmer was born on August 13, 1915, in Habersham County, Georgia to the late William Morgan and Ila Free Thomason. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. James Lester Palmer, Sr.; grandson, Javan Davis; brothers, Terry, Aubrey, Roy, Reynolds, Ray, and Marion Thomason; and sisters, Ruby Slaton and Lucille Palmer. Mrs. Palmer was a graduate of Baldwin High School, a homemaker, she volunteered at Habersham County Medical Center as a pink lady, and was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Demorest, GA. Her deceased husband was a minister who served in 4 different churches and she was a vital and dedicated part of his ministry. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Lucy and Howard Davis, Toccoa, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, James and Edna Palmer, Toccoa, GA and Eddie and Judy Palmer, Alto, GA; brother, Lance Thomason, Hull, GA; 5 grandchildren, Jeff Palmer, Greg and Natalie Palmer, Clay and Marcie Davis, Corey and Melinda Palmer, and Traci and Kevin Farlow; and 2 great-grandchildren, Hayden and Caleb Palmer. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 8, 2010, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Demorest, GA with Rev. Russ Barker, Rev. Billy Burrell, and Rev. Bill Evans officiating. Interment will follow in Demorest City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 7, 2010, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, GA.
