Dawson Lee Scales Funeral services for Dawson Lee Scales, 79, of Homer, were at 3 pm on Sunday, April 22, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, with the Rev. Henry Webb and Jerry Payne officiating. Burial followed in Bethany Christian Church Cemetery with Mark Kent officiating. Mr. Scales died Friday, April 20, 2007, at a local health center. Born in Banks County on Nov. 18, 1927, he was the son of late David Rosco and Eunice Caldwell Scales. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Mildred Jordan, Kateallene Garrison and Bernice Roberts. Mr. Scales was a member of Mr. Carmel Baptist Church. He was an auto body repairman formerly employed with Cornelia Motors, McDonald Chevy Olds, Jerry Brown Chevy Olds, and Grogan Chevy Olds, with 35 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Survivors include his wife, Helen Dunson Scales of Homer; son, Donald Scales of Homer; sister, Francine Garrison of Union City; grandchildren, Ashley Scales, Donna Thomas and Brannon Scales, all of Homer; and one great-grandson. Memorials may be made to Bethany Christian Church Building Fund, PO Box 207 Homer, GA 30546 Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, was in charge of arrangements.
