David Knopp, age 70, of Demorest, Georgia passed away on Monday, January 11, 2021 following a brief illness. Mr. Knopp was born on March 11, 1950 in Seattle, Washington to Bertram Knopp and the late Lorraine Lawrence Knopp. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his sister, Laurie Knopp Johnson. He spent his life in the Hospitality Industry, retiring as an executive chef. David was an artist nearly all of his life, after retirement he focused more of his time as a free lance artist. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. David was known to his grandchildren as "Papa" and "Grandpa".He was also known for his witty sense of humor. He was an avid traveler and loved to take trips to Tybee Island. Survivors include his loving wife of 30 years, Ann Wood Knopp, of Demorest; daughters and sons-in-law, Vanessa and Mark Leffler, of Key Largo, FL; Candice and Brian Strassner, of Cumming, GA; Nicole Hendrix and her fiancé, Tracy Norman, of Clarkesville, GA; Michelle and Michael Shigley, of Poulsbo, WA; son and daughter-in-law, Eugene and Miranda Kemp, of Alto, GA; sisters, Nancy Peterson, of Arizona; Valerie Witbracht, of Huntsville, AL; grandchildren, Christopher Hendrix, AJ Leffler, Kaitlyn Hendrix, Stephanie Kemp, Victoria Kemp, Isabella Kemp, Eugene Kemp III, Grace Leffler, Rachel Shigley, Bryan Leffler, Rebekah Shigley, Abigail Shigley, Camryn Norman; great-grandson, Samuel Hendrix. Mr. Knopp's wishes were to be cremated. Per his request no formal services will be planned. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of David Knopp to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 Arrangements have been entrusted to the Whitfield Funeral Homes & Crematory, South Chapel at 1370 Industrial Boulevard, Baldwin, Georgia 30511.
