David Cornthwaite

DAVID CORNTHWAITE, age 91, of St. Simons Island, Georgia formerly of Mt. Airy, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2013. Mr. Cornthwaite was born in Middlesex, England on May 30, 1922, to the late Herbert and Annie Pyles Cornthwaite. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Ellen Jones Cornthwaite, sister, Elsie Cornthwaite and brother, Peter Cornthwaite. Mr. Cornthwaite was of the Episcopal Faith. He served in the Royal Air Force of Great Britain during WWII. Mr. Cornthwaite retired from the Lockheed Corporation as an aeronautical design engineer. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Anne Hobby and Lawson, St. Simons Island and Jill Collins and James, Ft. Worth, TX; sister, Ethel Prince, Bushey England; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, June 7, 2013, at Yonah Memorial Gardens with Rev. James A. Clark officiating. The family should meet at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace-Calvary Episcopal Church, P.O.
